• 'Weapons' (Aug. 8): Josh Brolin and Julia Garner lead this psychological horror film in which all but one child from the same class disappear on the same night, leaving the community bereft and confused. Zach Cregger ('Barbarian') directs.
• 'An Officer and a Spy' (Aug. 8): Although it was released in 2019 in France, director Roman Polanski's pursuit-of-justice procedural, a dramatization of the Dreyfus affair, gets its first U.S. release at Film Forum in New York.
